12th Grade
Twelfth grade has just started, but it is already in full swing. This year, to some extent, is more about what comes next than what's happening right now. Everyone is in college mode - me included! I spent a lot of time this summer visiting and learning about different college and universities throughout the country, and I think I finally have the list of schools where I want to apply. It's hard to imagine myself in a new setting with people from all different backgrounds from all over the world, learning about all new subjects and ideas, but it's really exciting.
In talking to students at many of the schools I'm interested in, I've learned a lot about the college experience - but I've also learned how different everyone's high school experiences are. I'm really grateful to have had the chance to attend a school where so much of my learning is project-based, and I'm trying to remember to live in the moment and not miss out on senior year because I'm waiting for college.
While my big goal for this first semester is to finalize my college and university choices and applications, I'm also really enjoying putting together an art show and working on becoming a better writer. Working on my art and writing skills outside of school will, I hope, also help me this year and through the rest of my education.
