10th Grade Humanities
Overall
Humanities is a combination of social studies and language arts. I love this class because it is relevant to what is going on the word. I get introduced to world problems and get a deep understanding of the topics we work on. I love to write and express myself through my writing. This year I have a teacher that is new to this school. He makes humanities enjoyable for me. He introduced a article to us in the beginning of the year that changed my outlook on school. After the article, I learned that though you may go through times when you feel like you are not being benefited by going to school, you can always change your attitude and ways of learning by taking an active roll in your education. I have learned to go in-depth in subjects to benefit me. I know that my education is more than my SAT score or my grades (although those things definitely matter!). I believe that you can be successful if you work hard on subjects and things your interested in. I am finding that sometimes I don't think something is interesting at all, and once I learn a little bit about it and have more and more questions, I start to find that I really am interested and that it relates to me in ways I didn't expect.
Religion Project
For this project we were required to create an Artifact and Artist Statement on what we grasped out of our religion project. Throughout this project we accomplished many different things such as created our own religion within a group with requirements such as a creation story, a god/gods, holidays, and so on, visit a service for a religion other than our own, and listened to guest speakers. We had four different guest speakers: a Buddhist, a Christian, an atheist, and a Catholic. Throughout this project I have learned about many different faiths and religions and have learned to build an understanding and background from different beliefs and religions. My project ca be found here.
