Energy and Place Project
Artist Statement:
For my art piece I painted a view that I capture when I am on my “place”- the mountain behind my house.
My art piece portrays the point of view from the top of the mountain. I used vibrant colors to represent how I see this area, magnificent and beautiful. My appreciation for this place and what it provides for me gives me incentive to preserve this area and prevent from further development. My experiences I have had on this mountain are significant. As I described in my essay, “Without wilderness our lives might be comfortable, convenient, and materially rich, but our souls will be in poverty.” In my painting I tried to capture those feelings by showing my audience the attractiveness that I see through my own eyes.
