Brave New World Project
For this project, I read the books Brave New World and 1984. In my art piece (drawn, scanned, and edited in Photoshop), I was expressing take-aways from both Brave New World and 1984. When I read Brave New World, it seemed as if the world in the book was a utopia. Everything seemed perfect. However, there are certain characters and hints that show otherwise. As a member of a world that still has bad feelings and struggles, I felt that the characters in Brave New World were missing out on some of the important "realness" of life. Still, the only character in the book who pursued an escape from the "utopia" presented in the story ended in total misery, suggesting that maybe there was really a value to a controlled and polished society. Alternatively, in 1984 no one is happy and there is no instant gratification like in Brave New World. Both books portray a future where conflicts and deep and personal feelings are no longer accepted by society, but they are different in their style and in the subtlety with which they portray their message.
If I could change one thing about this project, it would be the way I saved and organized my flash drive throughout the project. The day it was due I saved my project, and accidentally replaced it with my first draft! It was a learning experience for me and I was faced with the problem of possibly not having a completed poster for this exhibition. I had to work very hard over the next two days before exhibition. I wish I would have had more time to refine my project, however I was proud of how much I got done and proud of the way it looked on exhibition.

Prehistoric Flash Animation
Project Overview1.The Waterworn Pebble started from a volcano that over time ended up in a body of water that water worned it. A human came upon it and recognized that it looked like a human! When I was learning this topic, I could really visualize how I thought it happened. I decided it would be a fun and interesting topic to create my animation on. I drew the background, mammoth, and boy and then colored and edited them in Photoshop. For the waterworn pebble I edited one picture from the Internet in Photoshop without the eyes and one picture with the eyes. Then I put the animation together in flash so it followed the Animation Rubric.
2. The process of learning flash was challenging, but I learned to enjoy it. While I was making my animation I had to face some problems, where I had to remove my frames and start over. It took some time but it was worth it and now I have a better understanding of not only flash, but also prehistoric art. 3. My favorite part of adobe flash was creating motion and shape tweens because of the way they turn out. These are definitely challenging and take time, but it makes your animation so much better. 4. I know that I can use flash for many things in the future such as birthdays, advertising, and many more. I am now confortable in flash. Teacher Poster Project
This project was fun because you could choose any of your teachers and place their head on a new body. You could use your imagination and create whatever you wanted! I think i was successful at making my teachers head fit well on the body, making it look more realistic. I recommend for incoming freshman to think of ideas before hand, because about four of my ideas didn't really work out. That way you can just get started rather than wasting time. If i were to do this project again i would really push myself in the refinement area. I feel like I could have added more to my project.
