9th Grade!
Becoming An Osprey!
I'm really excited to build relationships with friends and faculty this year. I am really excited and happy to have chosen a project-based high school. I love hands-on activities because I know they really suit my learning style and help me get a deeper understanding of the material. This year I will be introduced to Digital Arts and Humanities. These two subjects are new for me. Being involved in these rigorous classes will prepare me for my future classes throughout high school and college, but I'm also looking forward to starting to find connections between and among different subjects. This year I will learn what it means to be an Animas High School student and how to use the Habits of Heart and Mind: Evidence, Advocating, Persevering, and Refining, in my daily life while gaining a deeper understanding of the culture around me that is continuing to burgeon each year.
My First Student-Led Conference
My student-led conference was pretty easy. It's difficult to examine my own progress objectively, but I think I do know what my strengths and weaknesses are when I make an effort to acknowledge them. I wasn't too nervous, but I didn't know how my parents would react when I told them all my weaknesses and mistakes. I went in my SLC prepared so that definitely helped. I liked being able to tell my parents how I'm doing and letting them no what I have been working on. I have binders and notebooks for each subject and they are all organized with my homework, tests, and graded work, so finding evidence for each class was easy. When the SLCs came up, my parents already had an idea of how I was doing in school. My parents talk to me about my grades and school work frequently so nothing was a surprise.
