10th Grade!
As a tenth grader I strived to find new interests and create new friendships with a variety people. Throughout this year I have grown both intellectually and personally. This year I continued competing in Freestyle skiing and will played for the Durango High School's women's soccer team. This last summer I began an internship at the Durango Discovery Museum, starting as an explainer. Throughout this year I will continue to build into a paid position to work there throughout high school. This year I ran and got elected as a representative for student body as secretary on the Student Council. I was super excited to find out I will help by being involved while making Animas High School a better place. Because we are a small school, the student body and the Student Council plays a big role in making a difference and providing a voice that represents all of the students. At school, I'm also involved in The Quill, our school newspaper. This is a great opportunity to expand my writing ability and knowledge about how to write different articles. The newspaper is a great communication source within our school, and it's always cool to see how many students actually read it and how much it starts class and out-of-class discussions.
I am getting more and more interested in art and how it is used to express different opinions and views of the world. We have some amazing art in and around Durango, and we're really lucky to live somewhere that has such deep connections to Native American culture. Out of school, I'm starting to work a little on my photography, painting, and drawing skills.
